What We do
We work to empower rural women farmers to become Self Sufficient
Makomas Foundation partners with rural women farmers to achieve its mission of eradicating extreme rural poverty through market-based solutions. The Foundation works on creating sustainable supply chains from the producer to the consumer. This enables producers in rural communities to get a better price for better products

With the cooperation of local partners, we bring forth solutions that increase productivity. Thus, making farming more reliable and likable for investors. This boost helps to stabilize income and provide a better life to the local people.

Through a member-driven value chain, our model respects the rights of disadvantaged populations:
- Respect for culture, recognition of human rights and the value of each individual as a human being
- Promote solidarity and cooperation, especially of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged.
- Promote environmental responsibility and responsible consumption.
- Make women financially independent by involving them in sale of produce so that they get a better idea of market prices.
- Provide loans to women and set up savings groups to help them with their businesses.
- Transparency in financing and optimization of available resources
- Arranging training sessions at appropriate times and providing daycare services.
- Promoting agricultural projects that can be run from home among women.
- Train farmers in farming techniques that have less negative impact on people and the environment and lead to better products and higher yields.
- Support producer organizations through capacity building and organizational strengthening.
