Our Story
Can we lift rural women farmers out of poverty?
That’s what Makomas Foundation is doing!
Makomas Foundation is a nonprofit organization that works to support women who are aspiring, beginning, and already farming through a variety of program partnerships, workshops, and resources.
We help farmers to increase their harvests, build their incomes and sustain natural resources, partnering with governments and the private sector to find effective ways to fight poverty.
We work closely with local communities, who actively participate in all the decisions about our work.
Typically, our staff are from the local areas we work in. They can speak the local languages and they have a deep understanding of the local context.
Along the way we spread our love to more local products. We produce and distribute, helping the farmers get access to a bigger market. And we never stopped bringing fresh ideas to the market. This process represents our great commitment to the planet and its people and to fair trade prices.
As we grow, we continue to implement new and better ideas to measure and quantify sustainability. Not just in the field, but throughout the entire value chain.
That is the Makomas Foundation promise!
